Lucas M. Ferrer Cardona, MD

About Lucas M. Ferrer Cardona, MD

Lucas M. Ferrer Cardona, MD is a board-certified vascular surgeon

specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous

disease, with a particular focus on limb preservation, diabetic foot

complications, peripheral artery disease, and minimally invasive

vascular procedures.

Dr. Ferrer Cardona trained in general surgery at Temple University

Hospital and completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor

College of Medicine. He has served as an academic vascular surgeon and

assistant professor, helping train the next generation of surgeons

while caring for patients with complex vascular disease.

His clinical interests include preventing diabetic foot amputations,

restoring blood flow in patients with advanced peripheral artery

disease, dialysis access, carotid disease, venous disease, and aortic

aneurysms. He has published peer-reviewed research on limb salvage,

chronic limb-threatening ischemia, deep vein arterialization, and

outcomes for patients at risk of amputation.

Dr. Ferrer Cardona is especially passionate about helping patients who

have been told they have limited or “no-option” treatment choices. He

combines advanced endovascular and open surgical techniques with a

patient-centered approach, taking time to explain each condition and

treatment plan clearly. His goal is to help patients preserve

mobility, avoid major amputation whenever possible, and return to the

highest quality of life possible.

Dr. Ferrer Cardona is fluent in English and Spanish and is committed

to bringing high-quality, compassionate vascular care to patients in

San Angelo and West Texas.

Dr. Leon is among the leaders in treatments including complex peripheral vascular interventions using advanced atherectomy techniques, critical limb ischemia, and limb salvage.

His passion to provide patients with customized, individualized care at a lower cost than hospitals led him to operate as an independent cardiologist, and he has established the San Angelo Cardiovascular Center of Excellence to provide the most innovative diagnostic tests and minimally invasive treatments available, all in an outpatient setting.
